Importing Digital Scout data into a Web Enabled product.

Only data from more recent Digital Scout programs can be imported in the Web Enabled products. This process will only work if the team you created on the web site is the same team that was used in the desktop software. Also, the old desktop software must be closed during this entire process.

Log into the web application and create a season for each season in your existing desktop data.

After logging into the web application, click the red Organization button in the upper right of the page.

Click the gray Seasons button in the upper left of the page.

Click the Create a New Season link.

Enter all of the information and be sure to select the correct sport for the season.

Click Save.

Repeat this process for as many seasons as needed for the data that will be imported.

Configure your team to use the newly created seasons.

Click the red Home button in the upper right of the page.

Click on the team link that you are going to be importing data for.

Position your mouse pointer over the blue Preferences button at the upper left of the page, and from the menu that appears, select Team.

In the Team Seasons section of the preferences page, make sure there is a check mark next to the seasons that you are going to be importing data into, and then click the Save button at the bottom of the Team Seasons section.

Ignore the step to import a roster. This only applies if you are importing a roster for a season already created and entered through the web application, not one from a prior Digital Scout version.

Launch the web enabled desktop application and synchronize.

If the web enabled desktop application is not yet installed, log into the web application, select your team, go to the Downloads section, and download the Desktop Client.

If you are unsure how to synchronize the desktop application with the web application, click Synchronize Data on the top menu bar.

Click Tools and select Change on the home screen and make sure the season and gender are set correctly for the data you are importing.

Click Tools and select Import Data from the Previous Version.

The desktop application asks the user to find the data file (Example of data file name: Statware Basketball.dat). By default, the application goes to the C:\Program Files\Digital Scout\Statware folder, which is the default installation location.

Double click on the .dat file.

At this point, the import wizard pops up and walks the user through the settings to do the actual import.

Make sure the correct season and team is selected for the data to be imported.

Select your team from the desktop data file and click Next.

Match up the players and click Next. There may be more than one screen full of players.

Match up the custom statistics and click Next.

Review the information and click Finish.

Synchronize to the web again, and once this is finished, go back to the Change button on the main screen and set it back to the current season.

The data will now be imported into the Web Enabled desktop software.

Statware Web Desktop Client Getting Started guide

Prerequisites

In order to install and run the desktop client software for Statware, you must have one of the following Windows operating systems on your computer:

Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later

Windows Vista

Windows 7

Also, you must have an active statistics account with at least one team on My Digital Scout (http://my.digitalscout.com). Please make sure your account is active and that you know your account's e-mail address and password before installing the desktop client.

Team list

If you have installed and run through the account setup wizard, you will be at the home screen of the software with 3 buttons, Preferences, Team list, and Game list. Click the Team list button and you will see a list of the teams that were transferred over to the desktop client from the web application. The teams that you are getting complete statistics reports for (your "managed teams") will show up along with any opponents that you have entered into the web application.

If the opposing team you are playing does not show up in this list, click the New team button. Then, click the Create opponent team button, and type a name for the opponent team into the dialog that appears. Once the new opponent team is created and that team's player list is displayed, you can either click New player to create the players for that team, click Import roster to import the players in from a comma-separated values file, or click Return to team list if you do not have the roster and you want to create the opponent players as the game is going on.

Once you are done with the team list, click the Return to home page button.

Game list

When you are ready to begin entering game statistics, click the Game list button. Initially there will be no games in your desktop client, so click the New game button, and the software will ask you for the important information regarding the new game. In the team selection entries, you will select the home and visiting teams, one of which must be one of your managed teams. Also, you can set the date and time of the game, as well as which team is the home team. Optionally, you can also enter a description and the attendance of the game.

Game entry

Here are the main functions available from the game editor screen:

Lineup -- This option allows you to set the starting lineup (if the game is just beginning) or the current lineup

Events -- This option shows you the list of events that have occurred in the game, and lets you create new events

Synchronize data

Once you are done entering the game data, return to the home page, and from the Tools menu, select Synchronize data. This will connect to the web application and move all new and changed players and teams, as well as any game information from the desktop client to the web application. After this process is complete, the game will be available on the web for analysis.

Web Enabled Statware Baseball/Softball Palm OS Client Getting Started guide

Prerequisites

In order to install and run the Palm OS client software for Web Enabled
Statware Baseball/Softball, you must have a Palm OS based handheld with Palm OS
version 3.1 or newer, and one of the following Windows operating
systems on your computer:

Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later

Windows Vista

Windows 7

For your Palm OS handheld to synchronize with the Statware Web desktop
client application, you will need to be running HotSync Manager 6.0
or newer on your computer. On Windows XP, to check the version of
HotSync Manager on your computer, right click on the HotSync icon in the
lower right corner of your computer screen (the red and blue circular
arrows icon, you may have to click a double left arrow to see all of the
icons near the clock), select About and note the version number
shown on the window that appears. (On Windows Vista, if your handheld is
synchronizing correctly with your computer, you probably already have a
compatible version of HotSync Manager.)

If you need to get an updated version of HotSync Manager, please
download it from the Palm web site at:

http://www.palm.com/us/support/downloads/win_desktop.html

Also, you must have an active basketball statistics account with at
least one team on My Digital Scout (http://my.digitalscout.com).
Please make sure your account is active and that you know your account's
e-mail address and password before installing the desktop client.

Team list

If you have installed the software and synchronized with the Statware
Web desktop client software as described in the installation
documentation, you will be at the home screen of the software with 3
buttons, Collect Stats, Prefs, and Teams. Tap the Teams
button and you will see a list of the teams that were transferred over
to the handheld from the desktop application. The teams that you are
getting complete statistics reports for (your "managed teams") will show
up along with any opponents from the desktop application.

If the opposing team you are playing does not show up in this list, tap
the New button at the bottom of the screen. The new opponent team
window and player list is displayed, enter a description into the Team
name field. To create the players for that team, tap the New
player button at the bottom of the screen. If you do not have the
roster for your opponent, you can create the opponent players as the
game is going on, so you can just tap Done in the lower right
corner of the screen to go back to the team list.

Game list

When you are ready to begin entering game statistics, tap the Collect
Stats button. Initially there will be no games in your handheld
client, so tap the New button at the bottom of the screen, and
the software will ask you for the important information regarding the
new game. One of the teams selected in the home and visiting team
entries must be one of your managed teams. Also, you can set the date
and time of the game. Optionally, you can also enter a description and
the game type of the game. Tap Game Info button at the bottom and then tap Lineup when you are ready to set the starting lineup.

Lineup

The lineup screen allows you to specify the players in the lineup for
both teams. The team selectors are at the top of the screen. The main
part of the screen shows the batting order and positions of players. To remove a
player from the game and replace them from a player on the bench, tap
the box of the player that needs to be replaced and select the new player. Tap Done to
confirm your lineup changes. Then tap Events to begin entering events.

Event list

The event list screen shows you the events you have entered in the game.
To edit or delete an event that you have previously entered, tap the
event to highlight it and tap the appropriate button at the bottom of
the screen.

To enter new events, tap the New button at the bottom of the
screen.

Event entry

The event entry screen is the main screen for entering live statistics.
To enter an event, tap the Pitch Location, Pitch Result, Pitch Type, and then Save.

Synchronize data

Once you are done entering the game data, return to the home page, run a
HotSync. This will connect to the web application and move all new and
changed players and teams, as well as any game information from the
handheld client to the web application. After this process is complete,
the game will no longer be in the desktop client software, it will be
available on the web for analysis.
