Information is not transferred during HotSync (Palm) or ActiveSync (Pocket PC)

Please note that there are separate instructions for Palm and Pocket PC users.

Palm users:

The Digital Scout desktop application must be open before you perform a HotSync, otherwise data will not be transferred. There are several ways to solve this issue.

  • Close Digital Scout on the desktop computer.
  • Perform a HotSync.
  • If you cannot perform a HotSync, look for the HotSync icon in the lower right corner of your desktop computer. The HotSync icon is a red arrow and blue arrow in a circle. If you see this icon and cannot perform a HotSync with Digital Scout closed, you will need to contact the manufacturer of your handheld computer.
  • If you do not see this icon, click on START (in the lower left), go to Programs, go to Palm Desktop, and click on HotSync Manager. The icon should then appear in the lower right corner. Once it appears, perform another HotSync.
  • If you can perform a HotSync, open Digital Scout on the desktop computer and try to transfer information. If you cannot transfer data, continue to the next set of instructions.
  • If you still cannot perform a HotSync with Digital Scout closed, you will need to contact the manufacturer of your handheld computer.

If you can perform a HotSync with Digital Scout closed, but cannot transfer data, follow these instructions for the following products: Statware Baseball 5.0 or higher, Statware Basketball v4.0 or higher, Scoutware Football v3.0 or higher, Statware Football v5.0 or higher, Statware Hockey, Statware Softball v5.0 or higher, and Statware Volleyball v5.0 or higher.

  • Open Digital Scout on the desktop computer. Click Tools (upper left). Go to Utilities, then go to Palm Utilities, and click Repair Conduit.
  • Read the message. If you choose Yes, the conduit repair tool will launch. Follow the instructions.
  • The desktop computer will restart when complete. You must restart the desktop computer to complete this process.
  • Once the desktop computer has restarted, open Digital Scout on the desktop computer and try to transfer information.
  • If you cannot transfer data, please contact Digital Scout technical support at http://www.digitalscout.com/info_tech.php.  Be sure to complete as much information on this form as possible because it will greatly assist the Technical Support Representative and provide you with a faster response.

If you can perform a HotSync with Digital Scout closed, but cannot transfer data, follow these instructions for the following products: Statware Baseball 3.0 or prior, Statware Basketball v3.0 or prior, Scoutware Football v3.0 or prior, Statware Football v3.0 or prior, Statware Softball v3.0 or prior, and Statware Volleyball v3.0 or prior.

  • Please note that you may lose any Digital Scout data stored on the desktop computer by following these instructions for uninstalling and reinstalling the desktop software. This does not apply to Statware Baseball / Softball v3.0 users and Scoutware Football v3.0 users.
  • On the desktop computer, click START (in the lower left corner).
  • Go to Settings.
  • Click Control Panel.
  • Double click on Add/Remove Programs and remove Digital Scout from your computer.
  • Now reinstall your Digital Scout software.

Pocket PC users:

To perform an ActiveSync with Statware you must follow these steps, otherwise data will not transfer.

  • Open Statware on the handheld computer. To do this, tap START and tap Programs.
  • Use the scroll bar to locate the Statware icon. Tap the Statware icon. The Home (Prefs, Teams, and Games buttons) screen appears. This screen must appear before data can be transferred.
  • Open Statware on the desktop computer by double clicking on the Statware icon.
  • The Home (Preferences, Team List, etc.) screen appears. This screen must appear before data can be transferred.
  • Click Connect to Pocket PC.
  • During the ActiveSync, data (teams selected on the desktop or game data from the handheld) will be transferred.

If you still cannot perform an ActiveSync after following these steps, close Statware on the desktop computer and on the handheld computer. If the ActiveSync function still does not function, you will need to contact the manufacturer of your handheld computer.
