General software questions

ID #1051

When I try to perform a synchronization, I receive the error message: This device can not synchronize because you have already used the maximum number of licenses that your software provides.

When you buy a Digital Scout product, you are licensed to use software with one desktop computer and one handheld computer. The Digital Scout program keeps track of the handheld computers you have used and will alert you when you have exceeded the license agreement. At that point, you can either continue using the original handheld, exclude your previous handheld and use your new handheld, or you can contact Digital Scout Sales to purchase an additional handheld license.

To exclude a handheld computer and use a new handheld computer follow these instructions for your specific product / version.

For Statware Baseball v3.0 or higher, Statware Basketball v4.0 or higher, Scoutware Football v3.0 or higher, Statware Football v5.0 or higher, Statware Soccer v5.0 or higher, Statware Softball v3.0 or higher, Statware Volleyball v5.0 or higher, follow these instructions.

  • On the desktop home screen, click Tools in the upper left hand corner, go to Utilities and click License Manager.
  • Under List of Licensed Palm OS Devices, locate the username of the handheld you no longer want to use. (Palm users: If you are unsure of the username, turn the handheld computer on and tap on the HotSync icon. The username is located in the upper right corner. Pocket PC users: If you are unsure of the username turn the handheld computer on and tap Start. Tap Settings. Tap System. Tap About. Tap Device ID. The username is displayed next to Device Name.) Important note: This CANNOT be undone.
  • Click the username (so it is highlighted) of the handheld you no longer want to use.
  • Click the double arrow to move the username to List of Excluded Palm OS Devices.
  • Click Done.
  • If you need to install the Palm application on a new handheld please follow the instructions at the following link. After installing the handheld desktop software, the handheld application will not transfer to the handheld computer

For Statware Baseball v2.0 and prior, Statware Basketball v3.0 and prior, Scoutware Football v2.0 and prior, Statware Football v2.0 and prior, Statware Soccer v3.0 and prior, Statware Softball v2.0 and prior, Statware Volleyball v3.0 and prior, follow these instructions.

  • Open Digital Scout on your desktop.
  • Click Prefs or Preferences.
  • Click Licenses. Be sure the number listed under Serial Number is the Multi User License Code you were given by Digital Scout. This number is on a gray sheet of paper or it was e-mailed to you. DO NOT use the serial number on the Getting Started Guide for this. If you are licensed to use one handheld computer with Digital Scout the License Serial Number should be A415610 or A716719. If the License Serial Number is not A415610 or A716719 AND the License Information reads, "Not a valid multi-user code. Single-user license.", you need to enter A415610 or A716719 and click Update.
  • Click Admin.
  • Under Authorized Users, click the username of the handheld you do not wish to use. (If you are unsure of the username, turn the handheld computer on and tap on the HotSync icon. The username is located in the upper right.) This will move the username to Non-Authorized Users. If you make a mistake, click the username and it will move back.
  • Click OK. Important note: This CANNOT be undone.
  • You will receive a message indicating that this username cannot be used again. Click OK.
  • If you need to install the Palm application on a new handheld please reference the Installation section of this database.
